Shapeways and WaS comparison
The last nation I've got enough painted ships to justify posting pictures of is France. Many of these are Mattatknsn's shapeways models in WSF. I'm still getting the hang of working with the material, but I managed to reduce it from heavy graininess to general bumpiness. They'll never be display pieces like FUD would be, but they look pretty passable on the table and I think I'd have to take a pretty heavy object to them to actually damage them. At least as far as these go, I feel like the tradeoff for up close looks is worth it for the price and for added durability. I also noticed that the WSF La Galissoniere is an early war model, while the one that WaS had was one of the late-war refitted versions (and also significantly skinnier). I tacked on a comparison pic at the end for giggles and grins. When I was trying to figure out what scheme to use early war, I kept seeing drawings of ships with the flag painted on the "b" and "x" turrets. I didn't realize at the time that it was the neutrality patrol scheme from the Spanish Civil War, but given that most of the Marine Nationale stuff is either limited in scope, or confined to the realm of what-if, I'm not gonna feel bad about it.

Thanks! They are 1/1800, and are a mixture of Shapeways models and Axis and Allies WaS repaints.
